Launchpad is the most powerful tool to customize investor’s need. It gives a tremendous flexibility. Start with BLP GO
And then
09:48:28 HA-CHIN YI : Hi I want to create a group and apply it to my Launchpad operation.
09:49:49 BLOOMBERG HELP DESK : Are you looking to group components in your launchpad?
09:51:17 HA-CHIN YI : yes
09:51:31 HA-CHIN YI : I have several stocks in my worksheet
09:51:54 HA-CHIN YI : And I want to group them
09:52:13 HA-CHIN YI : And my news feed automatically produce news feed for that particular group
09:53:16 BLOOMBERG HELP DESK : How would you like to group them within the worksheet? By sector?
09:54:45 HA-CHIN YI : Well show me how to group them by sector first please
09:56:01 BLOOMBERG HELP DESK : Of course. So within your worksheet, please go to the Edit tab >> Group >> can choose grouping here. Or, to create a custom group, you can select all of the securities you would like to include >> right click >> create custom group
10:02:10 HA-CHIN YI : Let me ask another way. Suppose I have 50 stocks but I want to group about 5 stocks in one group of my interest.
10:02:39 HA-CHIN YI : And then I want my NEW FEED to show lists of articles for that five stocks only.
10:03:54 BLOOMBERG HELP DESK : So you can create the news panel and input just those 5 securities in the amber search bar. Or you can do it individually where you link the worksheet and the news panel and whenever you click on a security, the news panel reflects the news of that security. Which would you prefer here?
10:05:29 BLOOMBERG HELP DESK : Great so it seems you have your news feed linked already
10:05:33 HA-CHIN YI : How can I link worksheet and news feed?
10:05:52 HA-CHIN YI : I did it accidentally
10:06:56 HA-CHIN YI : More specifically, I am not sure how I created group A in my picture
10:07:20 BLOOMBERG HELP DESK : No problem. So to link these, please first go to your worksheet at select the either chain link icon at the top center or it might be a blue A. If it is a blue A, please select Create New Group. Then, please go to the news feed and click the blue A here and select the new group Green B
10:07:47 BLOOMBERG HELP DESK : This will then link your worksheet and news panel so that whenever you click on a security, the panel will update to reflect that security
10:16:33 BLOOMBERG HELP DESK : Great. So then yes, you click the security in the ticker column of your worksheet, and this should flow through to the news panel
10:20:18 BLOOMBERG HELP DESK : So you are not adding the stocks specifically, this will be linking the two components — the worksheet and the news panel. Then, you can either link the worksheet as a whole, or as security-based. If you choose security based, you can then click on a security and it will flow through to the news panel. I am not seeing a way to have a group flow through here so the best way for you to get the group within your worksheet to flow to your news panel is to add these individually
10:22:58 HA-CHIN YI : Here is what I found accidentally
10:23:16 HA-CHIN YI : In my worksheet, I created a group B
10:23:47 HA-CHIN YI : And then I press Control -key plus the security I want to add to Group B
10:24:12 HA-CHIN YI : Then the terminal adds the stock I selected.
10:24:23 HA-CHIN YI : And then I moved to NEWS FEED
10:24:36 HA-CHIN YI : And press GROUP B in Chain link
10:24:56 HA-CHIN YI : Then the terminal produces news lists for those stocks within GROUP B.
10:26:01 HA-CHIN YI : Plus I understand the difference between “the monitor”and “the security.”
